Transgender and Gender Non-Binary Resources
Author: Valerie Hoagland
Last month, AGP therapist, Valerie Hoagland, led a Lunch & Learn open forum with our therapists. The hope was that the forum would be led by clinician's questions and shaped by direct clinical practice needs.
Topics for discussion included definition of terms ("What does non-binary or agender mean?"), standards of care ("When might a trans or non-binary client need a letter from me and how do I write one?"), pronoun usage ("What do I do when a client uses multiple pronouns, for example, she/they or he/they?"), or practical inquiries ("What is the difference between social and medical transition? And do all trans clients transition in the same way?").
Below you can find the resources that Valerie shared.
For learning the basics of gender-affirming care in an accessible way, including definitions of terms, what to ask and how to ask it, short explanations of social and medical transition options and barriers, as well as reflections for clinicians themselves:
