A note from Kelsey:
“There is only one true luxury, that of human relationships.” - Antoine de St-Exupéry
Usually, the choice to pursue therapy comes at a time when we feel deeply disconnected, unable to re-center and re-connect on our own. Maybe the obligations you carry leave you exhausted and unfulfilled; perhaps it seems those you live with cannot really see you and don’t appreciate your efforts; or maybe your life has been turned upside-down by illness, the loss of a loved one, or a romantic break-up. Maybe you’re not sure why you feel off-balance, you just know something is wrong. Whatever your story, I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
In my practice, I want you to feel understood and accepted. With non judgment, I often play an active role in eliciting your experiences and feelings. I tailor a mix of psychodynamic, relational, and cognitive approaches to support you. With compassionate curiosity, we will observe patterns that hinder your ability to connect with people and opportunities. My goal is to help you acquire tools for building a stronger sense of self in your personal and professional life, and more fulfilling interpersonal relationships. I would be honored to work with you.
I have a deep personal understanding of illness, loss, and family mental illness, and have done extensive consulting, research and writing about the role of empathy in times of difficulty. My book There Is No Good Card for This uses humor and graphic illustration to explore the value of giving and receiving empathy in times of hardship, and is a core reading in grief and illness communities.
