A Note From Kerrie:

Everyone sees you as the one who has it all together. You’re successful, capable, and the person people rely on. But behind the scenes, it’s a different story. Maybe you and your partner feel stuck—circling the same unresolved conflicts, struggling to connect the way you once did. Maybe resentment, distance, or miscommunication has replaced the warmth you used to share. Or maybe it’s not just about the two of you—maybe family dynamics, past wounds, or life’s pressures are seeping into your relationship, making it hard to feel like you’re truly on the same team.

Or maybe it’s something else—something harder to name. A quiet loneliness, even when you're together. A longing for deeper intimacy. A fear that no matter how much you try, you just keep missing each other.

I’m here to help you find your way back to each other.

My approach is relational, integrative, and systemic, blending evidence-based techniques like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with process-oriented and family systems work rooted in my training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I help couples, individuals, and families understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck, using both top-down (thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors) and bottom-up (emotions, nervous system, relational patterns) approaches to healing and change.

Whether you're navigating conflict, recovering from betrayal, deepening intimacy, or trying to break free from old family dynamics that keep showing up in your relationship, our work together will focus on helping you communicate more openly, connect more deeply, and build the kind of partnership that feels truly fulfilling.

Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you—or even fixing your relationship. It’s about helping you slow down, see each other clearly, and make the kinds of changes that lead to real, lasting connection.

My own journey—from my Midwestern roots to NYC’s nonprofit world, from the grassroots energy of the Bay Area to spiritual explorations in France and Israel—has reinforced my belief that growth doesn’t happen in isolation. We heal in connection—with ourselves and with the people who matter most.

No matter what brings you here, my hope is that A Good Place Therapy can be just that for you: a safe, supportive space where you can show up as you are—and build the relationships you truly want.

My Background & Leadership:

I have built my career on seeking out solutions to individual, family, and community challenges—whether through clinical work, policy reform, organizing, team leadership, or building nonprofit social service programs. My work has always been about helping people find the tools, relationships, and structures they need to thrive, both personally and collectively.

As the Founder and Executive Director of A Good Place Therapy—a bicoastal group practice serving clients in New York and California—I have the privilege of supporting a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families while also leading a team of dedicated clinicians. In addition to my own clinical work, I supervise and coach clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists, facilitate professional development and training groups, and oversee all aspects of care, training, and fidelity to our practice’s various models of service delivery. I believe in fostering a practice culture that is both clinically excellent and deeply relational, where therapists feel supported so they can do their best work for their clients.

I was recently honored with the 2024-2025 Sandy Chernick Award of Excellence from the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy. This award is given to a therapist who embodies the humanity and clinical strengths that Sandy Chernick herself exemplified—blending irreverence with deep care, creativity, compassion, radical genuineness, intelligence, and a profound love for both clients and the field of couple and family therapy.

My nomination for the award was endorsed by my supervisor, MaryBeth Jordan, Ackerman Faculty and LCSW therapist, who shared:

“As a deeply compassionate and skillful clinician, Kerrie embodies the true spirit of Sandy as she consistently brings an authentic stance and creative energy to her therapeutic work. She has worked with some very challenging cases, yet she always finds empathy for her clients and works hard to discover new, innovative ways to intervene.”

It was a tremendous honor to receive this recognition, and it fuels my commitment to helping couples and families find new ways to understand and heal their relationships.

A Good Place for Growth & Connection

A Good Place Therapy is where my passion for helping individuals and couples create sustainable change meets my belief in the power of strong, thriving communities. I hold a fundamental belief that emotionally and psychologically safe individuals and communities have a reciprocal relationship: The individual nurtures the community, and the community sustains the individual.

Whether you’re seeking clarity in your relationship, struggling with old family dynamics, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself or your loved ones, my goal is to provide a space where you can slow down, reflect, and build the relationships you truly want.

No matter what brings you here, my hope is that A Good Place Therapy can be just that for you—a good place to land, reflect, and move forward.
