A note from Tayler
“Embrace your suffering, and let it reveal to you the way to peace.” -Thich Nhat Hanh.
Having walked a long way on my own healing journey, I understand the value of learning from painful experiences with compassion for self and others. As a teenager and emerging adult, I struggled with anxiety, depression, hopelessness, fear, and self-destructive behavior. It was a very isolating and confusing time in my life. Not only was I starting to feel the effects of my past, I was also faced with the stressors of becoming an independent adult and finding my way in the world. Transitioning into adulthood can be an amazing, complex, and lonely experience, full of ups and downs. Maybe you are questioning your life paths, searching for community, feeling lost, experiencing the effects of trauma, or trying to figure out how to exist in this wildly complicated world. Whatever you are experiencing, please know that you do not have to go through it alone.
I remember when I finally reached out for help and became honest with myself and my support system about my struggles. I was a client in therapy for many years and found so much healing from having a caring space to process my thoughts and feelings and learn helpful coping skills. With the help of therapy, I rediscovered myself, learned to accept care from others, developed ways to care for myself, and grew into the person I am today. Now as a therapist, I aim to provide a caring, compassionate space for you to heal and reconnect with yourself.
Many of us have been taught to hide our suffering, run from it, avoid it, or shut it away. We might feel isolated and disconnected from people around us. It takes tremendous courage to turn toward your suffering and seek help. In our fast-paced, complex world, it can feel like there is no time to turn inward and care for the wounded parts of ourselves that need compassion and healing. To me, therapy is a sacred space to gain insight into your suffering, understand where it comes from, learn how it affects you and your relationships, identify unmet needs, and transform actions and inner experiences to build a life that is fulfilling to you.
My approach to therapy is eclectic and rooted in Greenberg’s Emotion Focused Therapy, which involves exploring and transforming emotions and attachment to support people in living meaningful lives. I frequently incorporate interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. While talk therapy has its strengths, I believe that emotions can sometimes be more comfortably expressed and processed through the arts. In my practice, I incorporate therapeutic art exercises and welcome any forms of artistic expression that resonate with you. You are the expert of your own experience, and I would be honored to be a companion on your healing journey.
I am pleased to share that I am in-network with Aetna Insurance.
